Being part of a competitive team is more than just learning choreography—it's about becoming part of something bigger than yourself. It’s about dedication, teamwork, and pushing beyond limits. As a team member, you’ll hold yourself accountable, support and inspire those around you, and show up—ready to work hard, stay committed, and shine every step of the way.
Our competitive teams are designed to introduce dancers to the exciting world of competition while building strong foundations in responsibility, courage, and collaboration.
What to Expect:
Compete at 3 Regional Competitions
Attend 1 Dance Workshop/Convention
Opportunity to join additional competitions and workshops with the Heather Wayne Dance Company (HWDC)
Learn 2 dynamic routines in styles best suited for your team—such as Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap, or Musical Theater
Participate in additional rehearsals outside of regular classes to perfect routines and build team unity
Weekly HWPA technique classes, plus a dedicated team rehearsal class.
Requirements to Join:
✔️ Enroll in HWPA! Take the required technique classes for your age and dance level
✔️ Attend your scheduled team class each week
✔️ Attend the Summer Dance Intensive Camp
✔️ Commit to the financial obligations associated with being on a competitive team
✔️ Stay involved and engaged through all communication channels to stay informed and connected
AUDITIONS
No audition is required to join HWPA Fusion, Dance Team, or Spotlight Dance Team.
However, dancers are encouraged to attend HWDC auditions for valuable experience and additional opportunities! Link is below to register.
