ALYSSA SHAW
Dance Instructor
Alyssa grew up dancing in the Gwinnett County area and was a member of the inaugural dance team at Buford High School, where she competed in the first GHSA State Dance Competition. After high school, she joined Goldrush, Georgia Tech’s Dance Team, and remained an active member throughout her four years in college.
In addition to performing at every home football and basketball game, Alyssa competed at both the NDA and UDA Collegiate National Dance Team Championships. During her freshman year, Goldrush won an NDA national title in the Division 1A hip-hop category. The team later transitioned to competing at UDA in both D1A jazz and hip-hop. Alyssa was recognized for her leadership during her junior year, receiving the Brandon Adams Teammate of the Year Award, and continued to serve as a team leader in her senior year. Since graduating, she has returned to support Goldrush by assisting with clinics and choreography. She has also choreographed for and worked with high school and elementary school dance teams.
Last year, Alyssa began teaching leaps, turns, and jumps at Heather Wayne Performing Arts, and she’s excited to continue teaching and learning this upcoming season!
