LELAND THORPE

Ballet | Jazz Instructor | Choreographer

My name is Leland Thorpe. I was born and raised in Detroit, Mi where I studied in multiple disciplines of the arts. Attending Detroit School of the Arts my passion became arts all together.
From instrumental music to dance I dedicated my self to study passionately through the arts of dance and music . While still in high school I managed to make Detroit Symphony Orchestra , band and section leader,  mentor two middle school dance programs and teach an high school dance team .
Upon graduation I obtained a full ride scholarship to Kentucky State University. Later down the line I devoted myself to my own personal dance career solely where I attended MaryGrove College in Detroit Michigan.
There I trained rigorously in the Vaganova, Limon, Dunham, Horton, Cunningham, and Jazz techniques. I have performed in the American College Dance Festival with MaryGrove College and went on to continue his training at Kennesaw State University where he performed in the Biennial Dance Festival.
Leland enjoys teaching throughout the state of Georgia at dance programs that include Chattachoochee Performing Arts The Music and Dance Factory, Cedar Grove High School,Sky Dance Academy,Spirit of Dance Company, Kameo Productions, Atlanta Resource for Arts and Entertainment and my very own studio FemmeBotz Dance Alliance.
As a performing artist I’ve had the opportunity to work with Otis Sallid for MAD festival here in Atlanta, guest artist with Ballethnic Dance Company and perform in 4th season premiere with City Gate Dance Theater as the principal dancer and resident choreographer.
I’m happy to say that I’m apart of the arts community in Atlanta and surrounding areas!!
